We have learned that WGN Morning News selected Downtown Naperville for their annual Summer Neighborhood BLOCK PARTY! WGN will broadcast live from the Dandelion Fountain on the Riverwalk on Friday, July 12 from 6-10 AM. In addition to the show, the BLOCK PARTY will include live music, fun, and a parade all starting at 6 AM.
The Naperville Downtown Rotary Club has secured a spot (#6 in the lineup), and invites Rotarians and their family members in Naperville and surrounding areas to walk with the Rotary entry.
This is a made-for-television parade. Every entry will get TV time and be talked about by the WGN morning show anchors. This is a great opportunity to publicize Rotary throughout the Chicago area, as well as to show the strength of Rotary in Naperville. It is important that we get as many people as we are permitted to the parade (the max is about 30), wearing Rotary gear and bringing any Rotary signage that you might have.
Participants must arrive by 8 AM to the staging area in the Naperville Library parking lot. (You would need to park nearby and walk over.) The parade will start just after 9 AM. The parade is only 2 blocks long, which makes it easy to participate. Our Rotary unit should be done by 10 AM, so the time commitment is from 8 - 10 AM this Friday.
Please let Chuck Corrigan from the Naperville Downtown Rotary Club know if you are interested in participating.
